3 in 1: Slow Cooked Beef Cheeks

Make Slow Cooked Beef Cheeks for an effortless, elegant meal. Then transform leftovers into two stunning dishes, both of which are ridiculously fast to make – a Beef Ragu Pasta (on the table in 15 minutes) and a Beef, Mushroom and Vegetable Pie (15 minutes prep). Check out these leftover beef check recipe below!

Slow cooked beef cheeks done three ways

I have to be honest – I’m not a fan of leftovers. Partly because I love cooking and food so much, I want to try something new or different as often as possible. So I’m not particularly enthusiastic about eating the same meal more than once.

However, I do get a secret thrill out of trying to transform leftovers into something interesting. And these slow cooked beef cheeks are one of my favourites because you can make three stunning meals:

1. Slow Cooked Beef Cheeks in Red Wine – a simple recipe you can make in a slow cooker, in the oven or on the stove. Meltingly tender beef cheeks with a rich sauce. You can substitute the beef cheeks for any other beef cut suitable for slow cooking.

2. Beef Cheek, Mushroom and Vegetable Pie – using leftover beef cheeks and sauce, this is ready to pop in the oven in 15 minutes.

3. Beef Cheek Ragu Pasta  – made with shredded leftover beef cheeks and sauce. A rich, decadent pasta on the table in 15 minutes. Absolutely luscious.

It amazes me every time that you can make the Pie and Ragu so quickly using leftovers. They are seriously elegant, luscious meals and the pie only takes 15 minutes to prepare to pop into the oven while the ragu only takes 15 minutes to get on the table!

Here are images of each dish with links through to the recipe. Love to hear if you try any of them!

I have made this twice now. The second time just to prove how good it really was. Last time I also made the pasta which was sensational and a big hit with the family. This time I have made enough for another crack at he pasta as well as the pot pies. A great recipe. Many thanks Nagi.

Hi Nagi, Thanks soooo much for such a delicious dish. I doubled the recipe and served it with a lemon risotto. Rave reviews! I’ve already passed it on to 5 friends. A tip for thermo users – instead of using a stick blender, pour into the TMX bowl and blitz the ingredients; then reduce it down by cooking on Varoma, lid off, basket on (to to prevent splatter).
My two dogs also enjoyed the excess fat trimmed off the beef cheeks before cooking. They’re hoping I make it again soon! x

    Hi Nagi
Your beef cheeks recipe is so good and thank you for sharing it as it was my first time trying. I have tried making it twice now and doubled the servings. My family loves it! Love your recipes and videos, it really helps me to understand the step by step process.

I had never bought beef cheeks before but my butcher had them, so I decided to try. I sought out recipes & thought yours sounded both delicious & simple……it is divine!!!

I had only a little over 2 lbs but made the recipe for the braising liquid as I love lots of sauce. I’m having a serving tonight over mashed potatoes, will keep a portion for later this week to have as the ragu for pasta & will freeze the other portions for easy meals later this winter. I may just try the pot pie recipe & ask a friend who loves meals like this to join me. Thank you!!

    Hi Nagi,
I made this recipe before and loved it. Now I want to double the ingredients and make it for a dinner party. The only pot I have large enough for 6 lbs of meat is a Dutch oven. Will that work?
    Thank you!

    Hi Nagi,
I made this for the 2nd time and served with dauphinoise potatoes. It was lovely as last time. I could only get beef shin not cheeks and smaller pieces but it came out lovely. I made pasta using the leftover last time so I’m going to try the pie this time. It was so good and I had to stop my family to eat up all the meat!!

I tried all three recipes over the last three nights, what a treat (and very ecomonical)!! I cooked the beef cheeks in the pressure cooker as per your instructions and they were perfect. I love finding/trying ideas of how I can stretch out or reusing leftovers. Thanks for these recipes!!
