US & Canada Dinner pre-order
Today is a big day.
It’s the day my cookbook is finally released in stores across Australia and New Zealand. Let me just write that again so I believe it myself. A cookbook I wrote and photographed is selling in actual real shops!
And I honestly can’t think of a better way to celebrate this milestone day with you than by announcing that my cookbook is now available for pre-order in Canada and America!!!! (I am digging deep to stop myself from running exclamation marks across the whole row 😂).
To readers in other countries, please bear with me. I have a publisher in the UK pounding the publishing-pavement for Europe and other countries around the world!
The challenge of going global
I’ve been pretty open about how disappointed I was that I wasn’t able to announce my cookbook would be available worldwide when pre-orders became first available in Australia in August 2022.
I feel like we’ve been on this cookbook making journey together since the beginning as I shared my ups and downs, the excitement and rough patches. So I really wanted to celebrate with readers everywhere by launching it globally!
But alas, it was not to be. Unfortunately there are unprecedented challenges facing the publishing world globally at present, partially due to the pandemic. For instance there are paper shortages – literally, the paper books are printed on. And printers are scarce – America is apparently down to its last onshore book printing house.
Consequently, securing international publishing contracts in time to make Dinner available at the same time overseas as in Australia just wasn’t feasible.
As a result of Dinner will be made available overseas progressively. The US and Canada is first cab off the rank. But availability in more countries will follow, I promise!!
Why pre-order Dinner?
There’s a few reasons to pre-order!!!
To secure a copy: Imagine if it sells out…. and that did actually happen on Amazon Australia. 😳 But there’s plenty in stock now – phew!
Lowest price guarantee: Dinner is eligible on Amazon for a Pre-Order Price Guarantee which means you will be charged the lowest price the book is sold for at any time between when you pre-order and when it is shipped.
A special free gift from me: I have a special surprise in store for those of you who pre-order … to be announced in early November! Make sure you keep your preorder confirmations.
FAQ – US & Canada Dinner pre-ordering
More information about Dinner, including previews of recipes, types of recipes and a full recipe index, can be found here.
How can I pre-order? US and Canadian readers can pre-order using the retailer links at the top and bottom of this post, or on the cookbook overview page here.
Why pre-order? Three good reasons – see the previous section above!
When will I receive my cookbook? 21st February 2023. So far away, I know! But your patience will be rewarded with a special free gift … ☺️ To be announced soon!
What other countries is your cookbook available in? Dinner is now available in stores across Australia and NZ as well as online. Stay tuned for release in more countries … I promise the wheels are turning!!
Wait… is the cover different?? Yes! Well picked. ☺️ The cover for the US edition is ever so slightly different as my publisher Countryman Press (an imprint of W.W. Norton) felt it was better suited to the American market. There was never any question about Dozer remaining on the cover though! Actually, there were some cover iterations where he was even MORE prominent!!
Are the recipes the same? Yes! The same recipes are contained in the Australian/NZ edition as the US/Canada edition.
Are the recipes converted into imperial measurements? Yes they are. Measurements are in cups, ounces (weight and fluid), pounds and inches, instead of grams, ml and kg (which is used in the Australian edition).
I know this will not suit all Canadian readers and I am sorry. However, including both imperial and metric would make the ingredients very cluttered, to the point that I felt it compromised readability. So I made the tough decision to include only imperial measurements. The result is a more streamlined design which I really love!
However, it is worth noting that most measurements are in cups, tablespoons and teaspoons and a conversion chart has been included in the book.
In addition to measurements, ingredients have been renamed as appropriate. For example, cilantro rather than coriander, bell peppers instead of capsicum. Also, ingredient accessibility has been considered.
Oh look, here I am. Proof reading the American/Canadian edition. You know it’s my favourite task… not!😂 Give me a pile of dishes any day!
Thank you for your patience!
As mentioned above, getting the book out internationally has been somewhat of a challenge! And it’s been a hard slog to “Americanise” the cookbook – so many more changes than I expected.
For me personally with almost half this websites’ readership based in North America, today is a big day being able to share that pre-orders are now available in the US and Canada!
So, thank you for your patience as I worked with both my US and Australian publishers to make it happen. And don’t forget, keep your pre-order confirmations to claim a special free gift from me to be announced soon…… – Nagi x

Helping with the proof reading of the American / Canadian edition of the cookbook. By “help”, I mean keeping my lap warm and slobbering on the pages.

I just pre-ordered your cookbook, I have tried several of your recipes and I love them, can’t wait to get the book, I’m sooo proud of/for you. Keep up the good work.
MONTROSE says
I placed my order with BIG W in August, on Monday, October 10, 2022, I have been advised it is currently with Australia Post……….watching for the mail man!!!!
I always check your site for recipes when I plan to cook something I am unfamiliar with……….great ideas and reminders!
Good luck!
Tom Anderson says
#1…The cover picture pot on the stove…what recipe is that chicken?
#2…the towel in the cover picture looks real nice….but it presents a fire hazard.
#3 Nagi, you and Dozer keep up the good work. Even for those that don’t cook, you are very entertaining.
Bette says
Excited here in the states. However, I’m rolling my eyes at the small tweaks the publisehrs deemed important for North American audiences — removing the word Australia (because we don’t know where it is) and adding the words “fast and easy” because we’re lazy. Hahaha.
Viv says
Bette, I agree. If the opportunity comes about, I’ll order the Australian version for sure. Nagi’s Australian charm is priceless.
Nina Sobel says
Bette, I am equally dubious of the need for these stupid ‘Americanizations’. and Nagi, I’m so sorry you had to go through all that because believe it or not, more than a few of your loyal readers also TOTALLY LOVE alot of the Aussie/ Anglo vocab. stuff that might be ‘tricky’ for us Yanks to ‘deal with’ (I’m gagging myself right now!) Aubergine, capsicum, courgette, I LOVE these names and will totally shed a tear to know that those nasty publishers think that just because we live HERE, we can’t ‘relate’ to, much less dane to understand, these pretty self-evident foodstuff(s) and that we’re so ignorant we don’t know anything about a MAJOR NATION which is, (oh, yeah) a CONTINENT, also! Yeesh. BUT CONGRATULATIONS, NAGI on this extraordinary accomplishment; Cannot wait to pre-order it NEXT week!
Viv says
Well put, Nina. I’m Canadian and would really have loved much more to have had the option to order the Australian version! We love Nagi for many things, especially her “Ozzieness”. It’s part of her charm!
Summer says
I am your big fan 😎😎😎😎😎just ordered on Amazon! Can’t wait to receive 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
Margie says
When I saw your update, I dropped everything so I could order the book (work blowing up? Who cares?!?! Nagi’s cookbook is available for pre-order!!!!) I am very happy for you being able to realize this dream, and happy for me having a great cookbook in my future that I know will have recipes I will enjoy making and my family will enjoy eating. Thanks for all your hard work on this, and letting us share in the journey.
Tanya says
I pre-ordered your cookbook and can’t wait to receive it!!! February is a long way away, and I will just have to wait 🙂 Thank you Nagi and Dozer!
Nadine Battaglia says
Dear Nagi and Dozer!
Just pre-ordered your cookbook which we know will be wonderful!!
Besides, Dozer worked so hard on this project — he needs to know he is appreciated by peeps all round the world!
Heidi Richardson says
I had pre ordered earlier and was impressed that it was delivered the day it became available in the shops. The Smoky Pork Chops were delicious last night. Beautiful book. Love your recipes.

Bronwen says
I’m so, so thrilled to finally have your recipes on something more substantial than hastily scribbled post-it notes! 🙂
Helen says
I am so happy for you! You have truly earned every success and all the good things that go with it. I am just (patiently!) counting the days until your book is available in the UK. Much love to you and Dozer. XX
Heather says
Congrats again Nagi, you have worked so hard on your book. I wish you great success. My copy has been on pre-order at Mightyape since August. (Plus a copy for my son.)
ROMI says
❤️ Nagi, your book has been available for pre-order in many counties for some time. I’m from Switzerland and here it’s already possible, I pre-ordered it almost 2 weeks ago on Amazon Germany because it was not as expensive. Also, it’s available on Bookdepository: an UK online bookstore that ships worldwide with no shipping fees.
Giselle says
I can see both the US and the UK version preorders opened in Amazon Spain as well. Just waiting to confirm the UK version has metric measurements to preorder 😍. Release date is March 9th, 2023
Romi says
Wait just realized that you said that Amazon Spain has BOTH versions!! Omg I gotta check which one I preordered because I suppose I’ll take metric if I had the choice😂 (much better I know but got used to volume as well now😅).
Bookdepository from the UK which ships worldwide has both versions too I suppose, as I saw two “hard cover” versions and I didn’t know the difference.
Giselle says
Yep, those same two are on Amazon Spain. Price tag is different and one has the same cover, publisher and release date as the US version. The other one has the same cover as the Australian version but different publisher, it’s a UK one. That’s why I’m guessing it is a UK version 🤷🏻♀️. This close to preordering it!!!!!
Romi says
I’ve seen it in several countries! Uh I kinda like a mix of both (volume when it’s a tiny bit), I suppose Amazon Germany (where I preordered) has metric as well. Wish it had both😂
Lee says
Best news today! Can’t wait to receive mine!
Robert says
Oh, no! Imperial measurements? Here in Canada, we use metric measurements, which are much more precise. Is there any way I can order the AUS edition instead?
Sheri Mercer says
I would love to order this cookbook as I really enjoy Nagy’s recipes , but by the time I get finished with all the costs and shipping expenses etc. this book is going to cost me $51.73. That is way too much for a book with 150 recipes in it
Romi says
Order it in Bookdepository, no shipping fees.❤️
Jude says
As a Canadian, I use metric measurements. Is the Canadian version Imperial only? Can I order the AU version and have it shipped, or will a UK version be available in the future?
Bry says
I’m glad I’m not the only one wondering this! I definitely don’t want yet another Americanized cookbook!! As much as I would like this book, I think I’m going to hold off for a bit and see if I can get my hands on an original or at least a UK version once those come out.
Sandy says
Already got it, pre ordered it at Dymocks and picked it
Up yesterday. It looks awesome Nagi, I’ve printed and made over 100 of your recipes in lockdown. You’re my go to girl. Congrats!!
Shobelyn says
I did. I know it will be an epic book
Kathy says
Just placed my order in Canada! I can’t wait, congratulations and thank you for fantastic recipes! Looking forward to it!
Gregory says
Will there by an e-edition of “Dinner”?
