The ultimate crepe experience – Nutella Crepes!! Tender crepes slathered with Nutella and stuffed with strawberries, the only problem with these is portion control. Just one more crepe, just one more….
Great crepes are all about getting the batter right. I find that the best and easiest way to make a perfect batter is using a blender. No lumps, no tearing when you flip, with just 10 seconds of whizzing!
It’s a breeze to make crepes if you get the batter right. Too thin, and the crepes tear easily when you flip them. Too thick, then the batter is difficult to swirl around to coat the pan to make thin crepes. The wrong ratio of ingredients, and the crepes come out kind of rubbery (been there, done that…) rather than soft and tender.
The other challenge that people have is making a smooth batter. Because the batter is so thin, even if you sift the flour, it can be quite hard to get the lumps out of the batter using a mixer.
So this is how I make crepes. I originally sourced the recipe from Cook’s Illustrated then over the years, it evolved with little tweaks here and there. Using a blender, it literally takes 10 seconds to make the batter. Watch and see!
This is another recipe made using my Vitamix blender which has literally transformed my life. I’m still pinching myself that Vitamix asked me to develop recipes for them!! A Vitamix has been on my Wish List for ages, but year after year, Santa failed to deliver…..
It’s been wicked fun discovering what a Vitamix can do. Like – did you know you can make breadcrumbs using fresh bread (not toasted) with a Vitamix? Yup! Get those blades whirling, scrunch the bread into a ball then drop it into the Vitamix. And…did you know you can make a béchamel sauce using a Vitamix? Because the blades are so powerful, they actually generate heat so you can make a white sauce that comes out hot and creamy using a Vitamix!!!
Oh! Before I forget – I made these Nutella Crepes with HOMEMADE NUTELLA! Just 5 ingredients – hazelnuts, icing sugar (confectionary sugar), cocoa powder, oil and vanilla. Whizz it up, and this is what you get……
Slather onto the crepes, top with strawberries…..
And this is what you get.
Doesn’t it look divine? Just like something you’d get at a bistro. 🙂
The weekend is here!!! I know you’ve been good all week. So you deserve a treat!!! Go on. These Nutella Crepes are calling your name! – Nagi x

Nutella Crepes
Ingredients
Batter
- 1 cup / 150 g plain flour (all purpose flour)
- 1 1/2 cups / 375 ml milk (I use low fat)
- 2 eggs
- 3 tbsp / 40 g unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp white sugar (optional, I find the Nutella makes it sweet enough)
- Pinch of salt
Crepes
- 2 tsp unsalted butter
- Nutella (homemade or store bought)
- Strawberries , sliced
- Icing sugar / confectionary sugar , for dusting
Instructions
- Place Batter ingredients in a blender. Pulse 10 times, or until smooth and lump free (I used my Vitamix - Pulse Button!❤️)
- Place Batter in fridge for 1 hour (Note 1).
- Heat a non stick skillet over medium high heat. Add 1/4 tsp butter and melt.
- Add 1/4 cup batter (Note 2) and quickly swirl to spread. Cook the first side for 1 minute or until there are light golden brown patches. Flip and cook the other side for 30 seconds.
- Slide out of the skillet onto a tray / board. Repeat with remaining crepes, overlapping them into the board. (Note 3)
- Spread Nutella onto crepe - as much as you want! Cover half the crepe with strawberry slices, then fold into half then into quarters. Transfer to plate. Sprinkle with icing sugar and serve with extra strawberries!

LIFE OF DOZER
No crepes for you, Dozer! How about a strawberry instead?
This post is brought to you in partnership with Vitamix Australia. I am so honoured to have been selected to partner with such a high quality brand! I was compensated for this recipe, however, if I had not been blown away by my Vitamix Blender, I would have politely declined the offer. Here’s proof how much I love my Vitamix: it has been elevated to the very exclusive status of a permanent position on my kitchen bench. Extremely valuable real estate, reserved for only the very best and most commonly used appliances! – Nagi x

Though I yet to make the crepes I am planing to do so this weekend. Will I need to seperate the crepes with baking paper in between so they won’t stick as I was planning to make them the night before. I will be transporting to friends with these amazing crepes
Snackalena says
OMG so so good. So easy and was so yummy! Fool-proof as always! I made your ribs and mac and cheese and ended off with the crepes! Got 10 stars from the kids!

Hello Nagi, I’m about to try this recipee, there is just one thing I can’t figure out. What is that vanilla extract you are using? I’m not sure we have something similar here that can be commonly obtained. Would it be possible to point me to some vanilla extract products you usualy use as a reference? Thank you.
Nagi says
Hi Kamil, it’s the vanilla flavouring that’s available in supermarkets: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/92960/queen-natural-vanilla-extract N x
Kamil says
Hi Nagi. I found different brand in specialized shop because our supermarkets don’t have such thing. Crepes were super easy to make so I spiced it with your nutella recipe. Both were great. Thank you!
Shelli says
This was delicious and so easy to make. I cheated to save time and used store bought nutella. I only write reviews after ive made the recipes, and ive never been dissatisfied with yours! Thanks so much Nagi

That’s terriffic Shelli!

Hi Nagi,
This got 3x 10/10 from my kids when I made them this morning.
We were lucky enough to visit Paris last summer where they enjoyed crepes for this first time – we almost missed our ride to the airport as a result of a last minute crepe or two. They reckon this recipe is up there with the Parisian crepes they loved. It’s definitely a keeper and one that will be enjoyed many times. Thanks for all your wonderful recipes. Xoxo
Nagi says
Wahoo, I’m so glad it was a hit!!!

Seriously…Nagi, I love this your blog/site/recipes. I have been making crepes for a while for my family on Saturday mornings. It is kind of a thing around here that Dad makes breakfast on the weekends. I typically use my Betty Crocker cookbook recipe for Crepes, but thought maybe I would try something different this Saturday since it was Christmas Eve. I knew you would have a great idea. I used this Crepe recipe…and…OMGOODNESS! These were a knockout for my family. These were the best Crepes we have had hands down…including some at restaurants. We always have strawberries with our Crepes and I make a little yogurty-cream cheesy filling to go with it and my son loves Nutella with his (um, yeah, I need to also try the homemade Nutella on this site…just didn’t have hazelnuts). for some reason, these Crepes with the strawberries and creme were the perfect start to Christmas Eve. Thanks for another great recipe. Just in case you want to know my cream recipe here it is…
1 cup plain greek yogurt
1/3 cup cream cheese (softened)
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of salt
Just blend together and spoon over strawberries before you fold the crepe
Merry Christmas!
Nagi says
Wow oh wow! 🙂 I’m so thrilled that you enjoyed this so much Jamy! Thank you for your cream recipe, I’ve never made one with yoghurt and cream cheese, what a fabulous combination!! Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas! N xx

Lisa says
These look delish. Do they store well? I’ve been asked to bring dessert to a dinner party and I’d like to make them the day before, if possible. If not, will they keep from early in the day to dinner time?
Nagi says
Hi Lisa! Yes you can make them ahead 🙂 to be extra safe, I would put a piece of paper between each one, then just wrap in plastic and refrigerate overnight. Reheat very gently in a microwave with paper between – you can reheat in a stack, like tortillas! 🙂
Muna Kenny says
I avoid making crepes since crepes are light and for some reason vanish quickly!! You know what, I’m going to make yours and I guess it’s Ok if I made them all vanish 😀
Nagi says
Ba ha ha!!! Many things vanish very quickly in my kitchen….. 😉 N x

Nagi says
Actually, this is PERFECT to make the batter ahead and leave it overnight! In fact, you can make the batter up to 48 hours in advance!! I think your mum had the right idea…. 🙂 N x
Victoria of Flavors of the Sun says
What perfect-looking crepes. All I can say is “yum.”
Nagi says
Definitely not perfect given I didn’t even make these in a crepe pan, but the perfect thickness and texture!!! 🙂 N x

Geez you know when people are coming up in the world when they employ hand models. I am here to admit that I have never tasted Nutella, is this a crime against society? Not one sweet tooth in my head. The Vitamix looks like heavy duty excellence, I want one. Hope you enjoyed your strawberry Dozer, you booootifool thing you.
Nagi says
Employ? You think my mother was paid in anything other than in the form of ragged cold crepes? 😉 Dozer loved his strawberry! As much as he loved the celery he was nibbling on this afternoon….. 🙂
mila says
Ahhh yes the Vitamix…it is a genius invention isn’t it! I always made my crepes in the blender it is just such a genius way to do things! And Girl don’t even get me started on the Nutella! Be still my heart. So JEALous you get to create recipes for them!! This is awesome! I make hummus, marinades, chimichurri, chopped veggies…EVERYTHING in there….I originally got it for homemade babyfood but it has proved itself to be useful in so many other ways!!!! Enjoy it darling!
Nagi says
High five yo my Vitamix Sister!!! 🙂 N x
Barb Finch says
I’ll be right over!!! 😀 Scumpdiliocious. Not sure I have the patience to make crepes, but homemade Nutella?? Yuppers!!
Nagi says
The Nutella is INSANELY GOOD Barb!!! I seriously had to get it out of the house so quickly with every batch I made – even the so so batches when I was testing the recipe were dangerous to have lying around!!
Taz says
Nagi you are an evil temptress!
These look amazing….and I fear I I’ll have to try to make them!
The best part of this is that the doesn’t appear to be any milk in the recipe. That means I can make them for my niece who is allergic to milk. ( I think it’ll be okay if I substitute butter for margarine….I know not the same but I’m sure it’ll still work…right?)
Nagi says
Hi Taz! unfortunately there IS milk in the batter, I’m sorry hun! It’s the second item in the ingredients. However, I am 99.9% sure it will work with a dairy free sub such as soy or almond. And the butter can definitely be replaced with margarine!
Taz says
Oopsie…silly me…I guess I was so excited about making my own Nutella I totally misread the recipe! But good to know milk substitute will work!
Dee Aubrey says
Lactose Free milk is the way to go there. I use it just sweeter and no lactose obviously and even though nut milks as they call them naturally arte lactose free they use things like chick pea flour in them just a note. 😉
Nagi says
Thanks for the tip Dee! My friend who has a diary intolerant daughter will be happy to get this tip! 🙂
Cathy says
Wow, these look so yummy! I recently found a gluten free recipe for crepes, but have not tried it yet, yikes, but this may inspire me to. Hazelnuts are not found here often, so I’ll use the store brand and cheat. I don’t have a citamix either, but my Kenwood works pretty well, I hope!
Nagi says
Hi Cathy! Your Kenwood will work just fine for the batter 🙂 I do hope you try this! Have a wonderful weekend! N x
